I purchased this center stand for my 2018 G310 GS. It bolts up just fine with basic tools and mechanical skills. It works great, almost as if BMW designed it but didn’t want to include it for some reason. You will need a spring tool to stretch the springs on, I used a tool for installing car brake shoe springs. Where you will have an issue is if you decide to install an Akrapovic exhaust system as I did. The head pipe is a larger diameter and so contacts the half moon spring mount the center stand uses. I got around this by grinding out the inside curve of the half moon piece to fit around the larger head pipe and then, because it was getting to thin, I welded a steel backer onto the outside of the moon to get back the strength needed to hold the spring tension without fatiguing the metal. With a little black spray paint it’s good to go with no unwanted contact points.

Stand itself is decent. Nice dull finish, and welds and tabs seem fine. But the spacer or bushing on the left hand side of the bike, behind the chain roller, are the wrong size and won’t fit in the bracket. I think it’s more likely the spacer or bushing are wrong than the brackets were made wrong. In order to fit this i have to grind some metal… Agree with the other reviewer that it’s poorly designed and “fiddly” to install the plate that replaces the nut on the chain roller bolt. Though, i only needed regular hex wrenches. You need thread locker because they couldn’t figure out a way to use a nylock nut and you thread right into the mounting plate. Don’t misalign that very annoying part or you’ve scrapped it…

I bought this item a week after purchasing my new G310GS motorcycle. It’s quite awkward to install. You need some special wrenches to fit into narrow working spaces. Also some of the parts are under engineered or need additional finishing work to actually fit on the bike.
I’ve owned about 13 motorcycles and installed centerstands on 11 of the bikes. But all were very easy to install except for the centerstand springs.
But the SW Motech G310GS centerstand is so poorly engineered and finished it has to be highly modified to install and operate. I guess the manufacturer’s of the BMW motorcycle and the manufacturer’s of the G310GS after market accessories do not share the actual specifications to make installation easy and simple.
