I’m disappointed with this product as it’s going to take modifications to 2 parts which anchor the seat plate to the rear of the bike. The 2 plastic connecting pieces don’t engage the tangs on the bike. They’re too narrow to slide over and into the seat anchors. A combination of filing and or drilling may work but that will void any future warranty claim I may have for SW Motek. Now some may say that’s normal but this is a bike specific year and model so not good enough in my book.

The product is pretty good. It does not fit perfectly on my bike and it can be finicky to get it to mount. I may need to take a dreamer to the rack like a previous poster. Will update my review when I figure out what is wrong.

I have had this on my 2014 R1200GS since March and put 8000 miles on it so I am comfortable now rating it. I bought the Trax 37-45L side boxes and a Givi 53L top box along with the seat lowering and steel top box mount. They have all worked well, are water tight and can hold a large amount of stuff. As usual Twisted Throttle was great to work with.

With this type of accessory it’s all about the fit and finish of the product. This rack looks great, is strong and will be perfect for my purpose. The fit is not perfect without some modification. The “locking bolt” is not the correct size. I had to modify the assembly in order to get it to fit the bike locking mechanism. Would it be possible for you to send me another “locking bolt”, item 3 on the parts list?

Exactly what I was looking for to replicate the area on my previous 2007 R1200GSA when the passenger seat was removed. I only install the passenger seat when I have a passenger, so when covered with a bungee net this cover gives a nice area to strap cargo. It also gives my helmet a much better and secure perch when I lock it to the bike while at the subway station for my work commute. Assembled easily per instructions using thread lock, and then it snapped perfectly into place. Well made and a worthwhile product if you want an alternative to keeping the rear seat installed all the time.

Works as advertised. This item is exactly what I was looking for. It allows me to secure a “day” bag and still have quick access to my under-rear-seat tools/storage with a twist of the key. The bag sits low and is easy to throw a leg over. The price is a bit steep but it is very sturdy and solid — it will last longer than the bike will.

Bought this month ago. Some self assembly required and thread lock recommended which fortunately I had to hand. It would not be so much bigger to ship ready assembled which is worth bearing in mind SW Motech. Quality is excellent, as is integration with the bike. It took me a couple of goes to slide it securely into the exact position and “click”, but once I got it right it feels rock solid. I was worried about it bumping up against the side pannier rails that come standard on the GS Adventure, but no worries at all there.

Was looking at all the manufacture’s for a pillion seat rack that clipped in place like the seat. I looked at all the offerings out there and chose this one. Glad I did. Works great! I did have to do some slight mods. I ground down the tab to match the diameter of the rubber bumper that keeps the rack from moving forward. The reason for this mod was to help clear the electronic module that is on top of the fender. The tap was unnecessarily long. A little Dremel work and some touch up paint did the trick.
