Pressure set clutch / Heavy spring set brake
Clutch – The clutch is actuated with air or hydraulic pressure. The torque is related to the pressure applied.
Brake – Heavy springs will engage the brake when clutch pressure is released. There is no additional air or hydraulic pressure.
Note: For lifting or vertical applications where spring set safety is desired and adjustable brake torque is not required. Often used where just a holding brake is required.
Caution: The heavy spring set brake must be sized carefully as no adjustment is available. Notice also the heavy spring reduces the torque available to the clutch.
Example: Indexing cam operated dial table. The cam profile will stop the dial table. The Posidyne Brake only stops the drive train. A or B -Logic (Medium/Heavy spring set only brake) will not allow operator to increase brake torque beyond a safe level, which could damage the cam and cam followers.
